The Parade Committee thanks its primary sponsor for underwriting our promotional expenses
Welcome to the internet home of the Westhampton Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee
The following letter was printed in the
March 27th issue of The Southampton Press
Dear Editor,
Please accept our thanks for the comprehensive coverage your newspaper provided of our 41st annual Westhampton Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade and weekend slate of events. Your special coverage the week of our parade really captured the spirit of the weekend as well as the upcoming wonderful parades in Center Moriches and Hampton Bays.
The Westhampton Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee marked its fourth annual “Irish Weekend” in Westhampton Beach this year. For our committee, the “Irish Weekend” and parade is our effort to give the community something special. And with the rain holding off at the right time and the return of Mike Mancuso and his high-flying aerobatics at Rogers Beach, the weekend was a huge success, again.
First off, a big thanks to the Westhampton Rotary for bringing the Harlem Wizards to join the weekend. They were a smash hit. If you didn’t see some of the members from the 1998 New York State champion Westhampton Beach High School boys basketball team take on the Wizards, then you missed a great show. They gym was packed.
The Committee’s fireworks show saw many more people in and around our Village as many from the Wizards’ game made it down to Main Street. It was great to see so many moms, dads and children enjoying the show.
A big thank you goes out to Capital One Bank, the prime sponsor of our weekend, for helping the Committee underwrite our promotional expenses.
I would also like to thank many of the sponsors of the parade and our fireworks show that was organized by our committee. If it weren’t for local businesses like Magic’s Pub, the Artful Dodger, the Westhampton Seabreeze Motel, Sunset Café, The Southampton Press Newspaper Group, the Bath and Tennis, Brown Harris Stevens, Breslin Realty, Hampton Watercraft and Marine, Maran Corporate Risk Associates, The Richmond Company, the Beverage Barn, Seafield Center, KeySpan, Suffolk County National Bank, Eastport Associates, Gentry Construction, H2M Group and Cablevision, we would not have been able to hold events like our fireworks display.
I would like to add a special thanks to the members of the Westhampton Country Club who graciously hosted the show and their Superintendent Michael Thorne as well as Westhampton Beach Village Fire Marshal Bill Hart and the Bay Fireworks Company who helped us to coordinate the event.
The Westhampton Beach Police Department, Fire Department and Department of Public Works all stepped up and did their always great job of securing all the events around the entire weekend from the fireworks through the parade, the air show and our carnival.
Of course the Committee offers a huge thanks to Mr. Mancuso for donating his time and skill in planning and flying after the parade. The kids loved it! And to the owners of Casey’s Dance Hall and Saloon, thanks for hosting our annual fund raiser and donating the time and space to make it all happen.
The Westhampton Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee hopes to offer the same fun schedule of events next year as we gear up for our 42nd annual parade in 2009. While many parade-goers enjoy the pubs and restaurants on parade day, it is important to give alternatives like fireworks, an air show and carnival to our local parents and their children during this festive weekend.
For more information about the parade or the weekend, please call me at 998-4021 or visit our website at www.WHBSTPATS.com.
Sincerely,
Tim Laube, President
