An Irish Weekend
An Irish Weekend in Westhampton Beach is building momentum towards its fifth annual spectacular weekend in 2009. Organized by the Westhampton Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and sponsored by Capital One Bank and several other local businesses, an Irish Weekend aims at providing parents and families a list of festival-like activities throughout the Parade weekend.
Each of the past four years the Committee has coordinated with local businesses and not-for-profit organizations to create an exciting schedule of events beginning Friday night and ending on Saturday.
An Irish Weekend has featured Irish Step Dancing at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, Irish Rock Bands at local venues, Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinners at St. Mark's Church and an aerobatic airplane stunt show at Rogers Beach.
In 2008 the Committee was proud to host its second-ever St. Patrick's Day Fireworks show held the Friday night before the Parade and a carnival on the Great Lawn during and after the Parade.
The Committee also coordinated with the Westhampton Rotary to bring the Harlem Wizards for a showing at the Westhampton Beach High School. It was a huge success!
In 2009 the weekend will feature fireworks, a carnival, the Parade, a corned beef and cabbage dinner, Irish Rock and Roll, a feature yet to be announced at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center as well as the best aerobatic stunt pilot in the nation, Mike Mancuso and a few other surprises.
